Harry Potter:
Harry is the (somewhat stereotypical) male hero who (SPOILER ALERT) finishes his enemy. Harry does not narrate the books, though he is inevitably the main character. He is very loyal and has a "saving people thing" (Rowling, book 5).
Hermione Granger:
Hermione is the book-smart, nerdy girl. She is very demanding and ambitious, which ultimately saves Harry and Ron multiple times. I mean, let's face it, would they be ALIVE without her? Answer: NO. Ron evens admits this himself.
Ronald Bilius Weasley:
Ouch. That's a name and a half. But I guess when there are seven kids in your family, your parents are bound to start running out of (good) names. Ron adds a lot of humor to the stories and is Harry's faithful sidekick.
Neville Longbottom:
A pudgy kid with an unfortunate last name, Neville proves himself in book seven, becoming one of the MVCs in the series (Most Valuable Character). Besides from losing his toad, Trevor, often, Neville also melts most of his cauldrons. In the end, though, Neville redeems himself.
